The solution is very simple. If you pinch the tube flat, working from the folded end of the tube as you go, the metal will not crack and leak. The issue arises from squeezing the tube as if it's a plastic tube. If the metal becomes overly creased, it can crack, so pinching the tube flat as you go stops the metal creasing and tube cracking. A fully used tube should look totally flat vs a ball of twisted metal. Yes the metal tubes are more finicky, but allows the tube to collapse as you go so air does not get pulled back into a half empty tube, like with plastic tubes. When air get pulled back into a plastic tube, the oxygen oxidizes the product, so paste does not stay fresh as long from the oxidation. The metal tube helps keep the product fresher longer, and allows for recyclability, so for these two primary reasons we are dedicated to keeping the metal toothpaste tubes. Hope that helps!
